You people do such a great job bringing holiday cheer to the people of Ashuelot and Winchester Alot of people could take a lesson from the hard work that you do and how much you really care about the town Rather than finding fault with everyone and everything ,,you stepped up and created a wonderful holiday event People take notice

My Children and myself attended the first years event in that huge snowstorm, what a day, the snow made it so wonderful and when Santa came through the covered bridge by horse and sleigh it was truly magical. My Kids have out aged this but I think I might try to make it this year.

I am so excited that you are doing this event again this year As a kid growing up in Ashuelot I remember attending santa close coming to the park on a big red fire truck, what a thrill that was for the kids of Ashuelot I am so glad that you have brought back this wonderful event In this day of so much turmoil in the two towns in seems nice to see someone bringing happiness and joy to the children Keep up the good work I know the people of Ashuelot appreciate your hard work and the tree in the common is beautiful Alot of hard work goes into making that a bright spot for the holidays

I Know some of the people in the group that do this event.
I know they need help fundraising,
they need more interested and active board members to join the ones they have already and they always need your donations to keep this going for future Kids of our town.

I will be mailing a check out to your great organization I wish Asheulot had more people like you trying to bring wonderful things to the village You make the holidays bright for alot of people and ask nothing in return except for people to step up and make a small donation to keep this wonderful event going Alot of people could take a lesson from your organization This is what the holidays are all about

Just saw your post I remember Christmas in the porch when I was a child, the holy name society put it on for the kids ,,,then after a lapse of a few years, the Ashuelot fire company brought it back and use to have it down to the old fire station Many happy times so it is nice to see that it has come back for the children of the village It must be alot of hard work god bless you and your group I am going to try to make it to the event and give a small donation I am retired and living on a fixed income but I think what you are doing is wonderful Will you have a can for donations the day of your event????? Looking forward to it

The 15th is sneaking up on us.
we are looking for more members to join our group, we are losing a few after this years event and always need new, active and exciting members to keep this going.
We are also looking for cookies and other treats for the event and as always looking for your donations to keep this going and keep the Village Christmas tree lit and bright.
Donations from Local individual and business's have kept this going over the years and couldn't be done without them.

I see the tree in the common in Ashuelot is lit again this year, For years the Thayer Library sponsored the lighting of the tree and paid for the electricity with the then librarian Ed Lake doing the decorating, if memory serves me correctly I think this was almost 13 years. I just learned that three years ago when the new trustees took control, Harriet Charland and Julia Ferrari refused to sponsor the tree or pay for the electricity, They even threatened to turn in the other board members to the attorney general’s office for miss use of public funds, even though the funds used to pay for the tree came from the lawn sale the prior Trustees use to do for the Library. So the Ashuelot Village Children’s Fund took over the tree, Ed Lake, Donna Howland and Hugh Crowell have been responsible for the lighting and decorating of the wonderful village tree. I just want to thank the right people for all of the hard work they have done in keeping the tree in the common decorated for the people of Ashuelot. This tree dates back to the fifties and it is so nice to drive through town and see some Christmas cheer still alive and well thanks to the hard work of a very few people I am still wondering why the new trustees did not want to take part in this wonderful tradition

I never realized driving thorough Ashuelot these many years that the Thayer Library had stopped sponsoring the christmas tree in the park what would make Julia Ferrari and Harriet Charland so against such a wonderful thing ???Makes you wonder if they had some kind of person vendetta/??? I am so thankful for Ed Lake Donna Howland and Hugh Crowell for keeping this fine tradition going. I will be sending a check in the morning to the Ashuelot Village Children's Fund to help sponsor this wonderfulo tradition in Ashuelot and I am hoping alot more people now that they know that the Thayer Library does nothing to sponsor this tree send money also Thanks for all that you do for the community

I think you may be right on the money with the personal vendetta comment. I would bet Kim Gordon had been pulling their strings long before she even became a trustee herself.
Something needs to be done before it's to late.
It's easy to understand why some of the selectman might want to close the Library. The new trustees are demanding more tax payer money yet they have stopped doing all fundraising that the prior trustees did and they have brought far to much negative attention to the village Library.
We need to get together as a village and make the select board and the voters understand It's not our historical library causing the trouble but 3 trustee members.
If they love the Library and the village so much then why don't they just resign instead of having the place closed.
Kim, Julia, Harriet please resign before its to late, do you really want to be responsible for the closing of the Village Library that has served us for over 100 years?

Oh my I just read about the selectmen wanting to close the Thayer Library Didn;t those trustees when they took over and pushed out the ones that had been there doing the work for years, promise to make the library better and better Seems like all they have manged to do is make alot of enemies and drive the people of Asheulot away, maybe they should think about stepping down for the sake of the library that the profess to love Time for a change of leadership It would be so sad to close that lovely old place Many children spent many happy hours in their in the past Please for the sake of the library and the citizens of Ashuelot hand in your resignations Kim, Julia, Harriet and Diana

We attended christmas on the common last Sat and what a great day it was You could not have asked for a more perfect day for Santa to come to visit the children of Ashuelot across from the beautiful covered bridge I happened to look up and here he came with two beautiful black horses pulling him Could not have been more magical The people of Ashuelot turned out in full force with many platters of goodies and hot chocolate I want to thank the Ashuelot Village Children's committee for once again providing us with a wonderful christmas event
